Abstract

The most significant pests of apple and pear in Slovenia are described, with details of damage caused, life cycle and control methods (mainly chemical but also cultural and biological in some cases). The pests are: mites (Panonychus ulmi, Aculus schlechtendali, Epitrimerus pyri), thrips (Thysanoptera), Diaspidiotus perniciosus, Eriosoma lanigerum, aphids (Aphis pomi, Dysaphis plantaginea, D. devecta, D. pyri), Cydia pomonella, Hoplocampa testudinea, Cacopsylla pyri and, briefly, field mice, voles and birds.
