Abstract

Evaluation of phosphite applications for severity of papaya black spot (Asperisporium caricae).

Abstract

The effects of the foliar application of phosphites (K, Ca, Mg and Cu) on pawpaw black spot (caused by A. caricae) were studied. Two phosphites and fosetyl-Al [fosetyl] were evaluated in a field in Brasília, Distrito Federal, Brazil, with pawpaw plants naturally infected by the pathogen. Ten phosphites and fosetyl-Al were also evaluated in a greenhouse with plants naturally infected by the disease. Under field and greenhouse conditions, phosphite treatments reduced black spot severity.
