Abstract

This paper provides an overview of the various diseases of Pyrethrum (Tanacetum cinerariifolium) occurring in Tasmania, Australia, including their symptoms, detection, epidemiology, aetiology, causal agents, vectors and management strategies. Ray blight (Phoma ligulicola var. inoxydabilis), Botrytis flower blight (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum), Sclerotinia diseases (crown rot (Sclerotinia sclerotiorum and Sclerotinia minor)), diseases caused by nematodes (including Pratylenchus crenatus, Pratylenchus penetrans, Pratylenchus neglectus, Pratylenchus thornei, Meloidogyne hapla, Meloidogyne arenaria, Meloidogyne fallax and Meloidogyne incognita), tan spot (Microsphaeropsis tanaceti sp. nov.), winter blight (Alternaria tenuissima) and pink spot (Stemphylium botryosum [Pleospora herbarum]) are discussed.
