Dispersing flight of the winged aphid Macrosiphum (Sitobion) miscanthi within the wheat field.
We report the dispersing flight performance of Macrosiphum (Sitobion) miscanthi based on a study using NJZ06 yellow pan traps. The number of winged aphids caught on the yellow pan were counted with "AphidCounter", a software used to automatically count numbers of tiny insects. The experiment was conducted in a wheat field in the suburban area of Beijing, China. Results showed that most winged aphids were caught in the height of 120 cm from the ground and in the south direction. The average numbers were 573.0 per pan and 272.5 per pan, respectively. The dispersing flight of aphids was influenced by ecological factors in some degree, but the effect was not significant.
