Abstract

Alternaria alternata fruit rot of pomegranate (Punica granatum) in Greece.

Abstract

This paper reports the first record of A. alternata causing fruit rot in pomegranate in Greece. Symptoms were observed during 2005 and 2006, and the disease caused 40-50% yield losses particularly on cv. Kapmaditika. Fungal morphological analyses and pathogenicity tests confirmed the identity of the fungi.
