Survey of medicinal plants used against leprosy disease by the tribal (Lalung) people of Myong area of Morigaon District, Assam, India.

Abstract

A survey was conducted from January 2006 to January 2007 to study the medicinal plants used by the Lalung tribe in the Myong area of Morigaon district, Assam, India. Information on the medicinal properties, geographical distribution and habitats of the 16 species identified (Achyranthes aspera, Amaranthus spinosus, Aquilaria malaccensis, Argemone mexicana, Azadirachta indica, Cassia fistula, Cassia tora, Celastrus paniculatus, Centella asiatica, Cissus quadrangularis, Commelina benghalensis, Eclipta alba, Momordica charantia, Pongamia glabra [P. pinnata], Solanum viarum and Withania somnifera) is provided.
