Abstract

Genetic diversity and host range of Erwinia amylovora.

Abstract

This chapter reviews some of the findings of host range and strain diversity studies on Erwinia amylovora (causal agent of fire blight) that have been made, mainly during the last 10 years. Some recent techniques (such as repetitive element PCR and PCR ribotyping, restriction fragment length polymorphism, random amplified polymorphic DNA fragment analysis and pulsed-field gel electrophoresis) that have produced new findings about the genetic diversity of E. amylovora are discussed.
