Abstract

Monitoring of soft fruit mother plantings aimed at control of Phytophthora fragariae, causal agent of root rot.

Abstract

A study was conducted in Serbia during 2004-05 to monitor the incidence of P. fragariae on soft fruit mother plantings of raspberry. A total of 388 samples were obtained, among which 156 were infected by the pathogen (as determined via PCR analysis). The monitoring study resulted in the development of a distribution map for the pathogen. Infected regions were localized and infected mother plantations were removed.
