Abstract

Norway spruce - Picea abies (L.) Karsten. Insects on trunks, branches and in the wood - Part II. Dryocoetes autographus, Cryphalus abietis, Dendroctonus micans, Xyloterus lineatus, Hylastes cunicularius, Crypturgus pusillus.

Abstract

A total of six species of bark beetles on Norway spruce (Picea abies) are presented: Dryocoetes autographus, Cryphalus abietis, great spruce bark beetle (Dendroctonus micans), conifer ambrosia beetle (Xyloterus lineatus [Trypodendron lineatum]), Hylastes borer Hylastes cunicularius and Crypturgus pusillus. In Slovenia the first five species are local and do not cause considerable damages in forests, they periodically appear in outbreaks. The last species is a commensal in the galleries of other bark beetles (e.g. I. typographus). Short description of their morphology, bionomy, description of damages, possible misidentifications, hosts, their most important natural enemies, for some species causes of beginning or continuation of their outbreaks are described.
