Bordetella avium infection in chickens and quail in Nigeria: preliminary investigations.

Abstract

This paper discusses the Bordetella avium outbreak in chicken, 14-week-old, and quail, 9-week-old, flocks that are characterized by high morbidity and case fatality rates in Nigeria. This is the first documented B. avium infection in both birds with the following clinical signs: upper respiratory disease, sneezing, oculonasal discharge, sinusitis, emaciation, tracheal collapse and submandibular oedema.
