Abstract

Hepatoprotective activity of Cuscuta reflexa extract on experimental liver damage in rats.

Abstract

The ethanol extract obtained from buds of Cuscuta reflexa, collected from Orissa, India, was tested for its hepatoprotective activity against CCl4-induced liver toxicity in rats. The extract caused significant decreases in the CCl4-induced elevated levels of serum GOT [aspartate aminotransferase], GPT [alanine aminotransferase] and ALP [alkaline phosphatase], indicating that it possesses potent hepatoprotective activity.
