Raoiella indica, new pest of palms in the Carribean.
R. indica (Acari, Tenuipalpidae) was discovered in Martinique (French West Indies) in March 2004. It is the first time that this pest is mentioned in the Caribbean. Symptomatology, morphological criteria and biology are discussed. Importation of palms in the neotropical area requires strict supervision if they want to limit the infestation of this new pest in this zone.
