Abstract

Dynamics of development of Undaria pinnatifida (Harvey) Suringar in the City of Venice (lagoon of Venice).

Abstract

Between January and December 2002 measures of density, biomass and length of thalli of Undaria pinnatifida (Harvey) Suringar have been performed. Undaria pinnatifida is an endemic species of the seas of China, of Korea and Japan, and it is present since a decade on hard substrata in the lagoon of Venice. The measures have been monthly taken at 5 stations of the City of Venice presenting different environmental features. Results evidence different developmental dynamics seeming to be mainly correlated with the water speed.
