Parasitic angiosperms of District Sidhi, Madhya Pradesh.

Abstract

Several exploratory trips were made between 2000 and 2002 in Singrauli, Mada, Bargawa and Deosar forests of Sidhi District, Madhya Pradesh, India. Eleven species of parasitic plants were recorded for the first time in Sidhi District. Six species are stem parasites (Dendrophthoe falcata, Scurrula cordifolia, Viscum album, V. articulatum, Cassytha filiformis and Cuscuta reflexa) and five species are root parasites (Striga lutea [S. asiatica], Aeginetia indica, Cistanche tubulosa, Orobanche aegyptiaca and O. cernua).
