Abstract

First report of leaf spot caused by Curvularia verruculosa on Cynodon sp. in Hubei, China.

Abstract

In August 2003, disease symptoms were observed in Wuhan [Central Southern China], China, at a sports field on a Cynodon dactylon Ă— Cynodon transvaalensis hybrid. Yellow-brown spots of varying shape were formed on leaves and sheaths. The spots measured up to 1 cm in diameter. Disease incidence was 5%. The isolated pathogen was identified as Curvularia verruculosa [Cochliobolus verruculosus]. This is thought to be the first report of Curvularia verruculosa on Cynodon.
