Abstract

Parasitoids of soyabean stem fly, Melanagromyza sojae (Zehntner) (Diptera : Agromyzidae).

Abstract

Surveys were conducted in Bangalore, Karnataka, India in 1997-98 to evaluate the parasitoids of M. sojae infesting soyabeans. A total of five natural enemies were recorded: Cynipoidea sp., Sphegigaster sp., Eurytoma melanagromyzae, Syntomopus carinatus and Aneuropria kairali. Parasitization percentage ranged from 3% in Sphegigaster sp. and A. kairali to 20% in E. melanagromyzae. Cynipoidea sp. and E. melanagromyza may be used in integrated pest management programmes.
