Abstract
In 2003, veinal and leaf necrosis, necrotic streaks on the stem, necrosis of the terminal bud and plant death was observed in safflower cv. NARI-6 in Maharashtra, India. ELISA and immunosorbent electron microscopy identified the causal organism as tobacco streak virus, and its pathogenicity was confirmed. This is thought to be the first report of the virus infecting safflower.
