Abstract
Occurrence of red thread disease in the grasses of Horton Plains National Park.
Abstract
During early 1998, unusual drying and withering of leaves of Pennisetum clandestinum and P. glabarum were observed in the grasslands of Horton Plains National Park in Sri Lanka. Examination of the infected leaves and isolation of the causal organism showed that the red thread disease was caused by Laetisaria fuciformis. This is the first report of the disease from Sri lanka or any sub-tropical climate.
