Abstract

The subfamily Allantinae of the Tenthredinidae is reviewed for the New World, south of the United States. Six genera and 40 species are included. Acidiophora includes 7 species in South America; Empria, 2 species in Mexico; Ametastegia, 5 species from Mexico to Costa Rica and an introduced species in Chile and Argentina; Antholcus, one species in Chile and Argentina; Macremphytus, one species in Mexico; and Probleta, 24 species from southern Mexico to southern Brazil. New species are Ametastegia hansoni sp. nov. (Costa Rica), Probleta corana sp. nov. (Santa Catarina, Brazil), P. decorata sp. nov. (Costa Rica), P. grossoensis sp. nov. (Mato Grosso, Brazil; Colombia), P. malaisei sp. nov. (Santa Catarina and Paraná, Brazil), P. mazona sp. nov. (Amazonas, Brazil), P. nicklei sp. nov. (Peru), P. shannoni sp. nov. (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), and P. siceva sp. nov. (Peru). Protoprobleta is a new synonym of Probleta. Keys and descriptions for the genera and species are provided.
