Insect pests associated with fenugreek in Haryana.
A survey was conducted during the 1998/99 rabi season in Haryana, India, to identify the insect pests associated with fenugreek. Hypera postica, commonly called the alfalfa weevil, infestation was observed from the first week of February until mid-March. Pupation takes place among leaves in thin papery cocoons that are spherical in shape. Crop damage was significant although H. postica incidence was recorded only as 1-2 grubs per plant. In addition, Aphis craccivora and Liriomyza sp. were also observed.
