Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

The genus Alhagi (Leguminosae: Papilionoideae) in the Middle East.

Abstract

A morphological study of numerous specimens of Alhagi maurorum and A. graecorum, both of which have economic importance as weeds and as fodder crops for grazing animals, shows that the key characters normally used cannot separate these taxa at the species level. They are best treated as subspecies, so that the genus is now regarded as including a single variable species, A. maurorum.
