Abstract

Resistance to foliage feeding aphids in wheat.

Abstract

One emmer (Triticum dicoccum), 7 durum (T. durum) and 34 bread wheat cultivars were evaluated for resistance to the foliage feeding aphids, Rhopalosiphum padi and Macrosiphum miscanthi, during 1997-98 and 1998-99. Cultivars HPW 42, GW 173, K 8027 and VL 738 were the most resistant to the pests. The following cultivars showed moderate resistance: HD 2687, DWR 195, PBW 299, GW 190, C 306, HUW 468 and HD 2501. All the other cultivars showed high susceptibility to the pests.
