Abstract

First report of Rhizoctonia solani Ag-4-HG-II on garden pink in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Abstract

During 2001, basal stem rot, wilt and plant death were observed on 30% of the plants in a crop of Dianthus plumarius cv. Testar in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Cultural and morphological characterization and pathogenicity tests identified R. solani AG-4-HG-II as the causal organism of the disease. This is claimed to be the first report of R. solani AG-4-HG-II on D. plumarius in Argentina.
