Abstract

Survey of weed communities of sugarcane crop was carried out in the district of Sukkur during 1998-99. Fifty weed species belonging to 21 angiospermic families are reported from sugarcane field. Five weed communities namely: (1) Desmostachya-Cynodon-Tribulus in Kundi Farm, (2) Desmostachya-Cynodon-Trianthema in Hingoro, (3) Desmostachya-Cucumis-Leptochloa in Pano Aqil, (4) Desmostachya-Trianthema-Cyperus in Rohri and (5) Desmostachya-Cynodon-Tribulus in Saleh Pat were recognized during this period. Desmostachya bipinnata, Cynodon dactylon, Leptochloa panicea, Tribulus terrestris, Cucumis callosus, Trianthema portulacastrum and Cyperus rotundus were the dominant weed species in the areas under study.
