Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

An updated bibliography of the African Quelea species.

Abstract

Of the three species belonging to the genus Quelea, Q. quelea is a major graminivorous pest throughout much of sub-Saharan Africa. Q. erythrops sometimes causes substantial damage to cultivated rice and Q. cardinalis is not recorded as an agricultural pest. An updated bibliography of Quelea spp. is discussed. The bibliography was published in 2001 and a searchable internet version is under development. The bibliography contains 1880 references from published Quelea spp. sightings, related works with no direct relevance to the species, journals, books, and unpublished material. The format of the printed bibliography and analyses of journals and themes included in the bibliography are included.
