Abstract

Influence of certain plant extracts on yellow mite Polyphagotarsonemus latus (Banks) on chillies.

Abstract

Leaf extracts of 9 plant species (Adathoda vasica, Vitex negundo, Azadirachta indica, Aristolochia bracteata, Lippia nodiflora, Argemone mexicana, Sansevieria sp., Cissus quadrangularis [?C. quadrangula] and Aloe sp.) as 5% aqueous extracts were sprayed on chillies 30 days after transplanting in Tamil Nadu, India, in 1998. The P. latus populations were reduced in all treatments, compared to the untreated control, at 5 and 10 days after treatment, but L. nodiflora and Aloe sp. recorded the lowest populations at 0.67 mites per leaf.
