Orchid viruses in São Paulo State.
In Brazil, several native and introduced orchids are commercially cultivated by traditional techniques and by in vitro propagation. The present paper concerns the results of virus detection in orchid samples examined between 1993 and 1995. The most common viruses were Cymbidium mosaic virus (Potexvirus), orchid fleck virus (Rhabdoviridae) and Odontoglossum ringspot virus (Tobamovirus). The importance of such viruses should be taken into account in future programmes of orchid propagation.
