Sugarbeet diseases occurring in Poland.

Abstract

A number of pathogens (bacteria, fungi and viruses) attacking sugarbeet are described. These include Pythium spp., Aphanomyces cochlioides, Phoma betae [Pleospora betae] and a number of viruses including beet yellows virus, beet mosaic virus and beet necrotic yellow vein virus. Verticillium albo-atrum, Cercospora beticola, Ramularia beticola, Erysiphe betae, Alternaria tenuis [A. alternata] and Uromyces betae are among other pathogens listed. The area and extent of damage likely to be caused by each pathogen is specified.
