Abstract

Internal movement of Erwinia amylovora from infection in the scion and economic loss estimates due to the rootstock phase of fire blight of apple.

Abstract

The potential economic losses of the rootstock phase to fire blight (Erwinia amylovora) in New York state, USA, was estimated. Rootstock and scion infections were mapped in 3 orchards. Economic losses resulting from rootstock blight were estimated based on a 10% tree loss in high density apple orchards. The estimated losses were $8818/ha ($3571.31/acre).
