Abstract

Examination of 3241 Gadus morhua collected from the Baltic Sea from 25 November to 8 December 1994 revealed Cryptocotyle lingua in 166 (5.1%), Lernaeocera branchialis in 9 (0.3%), skin ulcers in 41 (1.3%), pseudobranchial swellings in 6 (0.2%) and skeletal deformities in 18 (0.6%). The spatial distribution of C. lingua and L. branchialis appeared to be restricted to areas with salinity above 8.
