Abstract

Systematic studies in the eucalypts. 10. New tropical and subtropical eucalypts from Australia and New Guinea (Eucalyptus, Myrtaceae).

Abstract

New species described are Eucalyptus biterranea, E. macta, E. grisea (all trees to 25-28 m tall), E. pantoleuca, E. glomericassis, E. kenneallyi, E. costuligera (all small trees to 8-12 m tall), E. epruinata, E. limitaris, E. tephrodes and E. xerothermica (all trees or sometimes mallee to 6-10 m tall). New subspecies are recognised in E. leucophloia Brooker subsp. euroa (tree to 10 m), E. oligantha Schauer subsp. modica (tree to 15 m tall), and E. pruinosa Schauer subsp. tenuata (tree or mallee to 6 m tall). All new taxa fall within subgenus Symphyomyrtus, in the three sections Transversaria, Exsertaria and Adnataria. New taxa are mapped, and keys are presented in cases where existing keys will not discriminate taxa. Selected taxa are illustrated.
