Abstract

Integrated weed management in barnyard millet.

Abstract

Field experiments were conducted in Teri Garhwal, Uttar Pradesh, India, during the kharif seasons of 1995-96 to study the effect of integrated control measures on weeds present in barnyard millet (Echinochloa frumentacea). Major weeds found in plots were Galinsoga parviflora, Polygonum capitatum, Digitaria ciliaris, Cyperus rotundus and Setaria glauca [S. pumila]. The combination of isoproturon and one hand weeding at 45 DAS recorded the lowest weed density and dry weight which resulted in the maximum grain and straw yields, highest weed control efficacy and economic return.
