Abstract

Effect of Fusarium pallidoroseum, a fungal pathogen on Aphis craccivora and yield of cowpea.

Abstract

The effectiveness of Fusarium pallidoroseum against Aphis craccivora on cowpea was studied in the field in Kerala, India. Yield data at 32 days after treatment showed that an increase in spore concentration from 0.875 x 106 to 7 x 106 spores/ml resulted in a corresponding decrease in the aphid population from 91.6 to 100%. A consequent increase in cowpea yield from 246.34 to 265.22 g/plant was recorded, together with an increase in numbers of pods from 29 to 33.
