Abstract
Infestation of greenhouse cucumber caused by several species of aphids and their biological control.
Abstract
In a greenhouse study in 1995-97 in Germany, the appearance and population dynamics of Aphis gossypii, Aulacorthum solani and Macrosiphum euphorbiae were examined. Biological control agents (Aphidius colemani, Aphidius ervi, Lysiphlebus testaceipes and Aphidoletes aphidimyza) were released in the open rearing system. The release of A. colemani and A. aphidimyza were effective in controlling A. gossypii. The control of A. solani and M. euphorbiae was unsatisfactory. Cucumber yield was not significantly affected by aphid infestation.
