Southern bacterial wilt found in geraniums.
Bacterial blight and southern bacterial wilt of geranium (Pelargonium spp.), caused by Xanthomonas campestris pv. pelargonii and Ralstonia solanacearum, respectively, are discussed. The host range, control and methods for identifying these pathogens are reported. It is suggested that for the control of both X. c. pv. pelargonii and R. solanacearum sanitation is the most important cultural practice. Application of copper compounds may also help in the protection of plants.
