Taxonomy, distribution and biology of the tomato powdery mildew (Oidium lycopersici).
Since 1986 many reports have appeared from various countries in Europe and North America on the occurrence of a new pathogen on tomato crops, especially those grown under glass. No teleomorph of this powdery mildew, recently described as Oidium lycopersici, have been reported. Only limited information is available on this pathogen. A critical review of the recent information in this field, including its taxonomic position, geographical distribution, biology, host range, variability, sources and genetics of resistance and chemical protection is given.
