Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Distribution maps of quarantine pests for Europe (edited by Smith, I. M. and Charles, L. M. F.).

Abstract

This book is published in association with the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO) and is the result of collaboration between EPPO and CAB International (CABI). This is a companion volume to the Quarantine Pests for Europe and Illustrations of Quarantine Pests of Europe. Updated geographical distributions of >350 pests for which data sheets and illustrations are available are presented. Maps are provided for each pest showing current world distribution graphically, supported with a list of countries and provinces in which the pest has been recorded, and an indication of its current status. Each sheet includes sections on the pests identity, hosts, geographical distribution, biology, detection and identification, means of movement and dispersal, significance, phytosanitary measures and a bibliography. Pests covered include insects, mites, nematodes, fungi, bacteria, viruses and parasitic plants. The pests covered are either entirely absent form the European and Mediterranean region or have restricted distribution.
