Abstract

Diseases and pests in forest nurseries.

Abstract

Results are given of plant health surveys with records of diseases and pests found in Croatian nurseries during 1992-95. In total there were 25 species of recorded insects and 16 species of noxious fungi. Most of the insects were recorded on species of Populus, Pinus, Picea, Salix and Quercus. The most important problems on Populus were Melampsora sp., Marssonina brunnea [Drepanopeziza punctiformis], Lispothrips crassipes and Saperda populnea. Pedunculate and sessile oak were infested with Microsphaera alphitoides and Caliroa annulipes. Suppressive measures were continually undertaken and damages were consequently minimized.
