Abstract

Integrated management of mealybugs in coffee.

Abstract

The biology and association with Formicidae of Planococcus citri, P. lilacinus and P. minor in coffee in India is described. Biological control is discussed, including the use of Cryptolaemus montrouzieri (predator) and Leptomastix dactylopii (parasitoid), techniques to rear them on large scale, and cost benefit analysis. Integrated control measures, including the control of Formicidae with quinalphos, parathion or malathion, destruction of formicid nests, removal and destruction of weeds harbouring the pseudococcids are also discussed.
