Abstract
The selection of excellent willow clones for pulp and pitwood.
Abstract
Willows (Salix) are mainly short rotation species with high output and rapid growth. Their wood is of medium density, with high impact, compressive and bend strength, so they could be used for quality pulp production and would be suitable for use as pitwood. Based on these requirements, 3 excellent clones of artificial hybrids of Salix jiangsuensis ('J799', 'J795' and 'J903') have been successfully selected.
