Abstract

Dendrolimus virus resources and their application in Yunnan.

Abstract

Since 1973, a total of 12 viruses (including 6 from Yunnan province, China) have been isolated from dead larvae of Dendrolimus. During 1984-94, the Dendrolimus cytoplasmic polyhedrosis virus (CPV) was applied over an area of 4282 ha of Pinus forests against Dendrolimus punctatus wenshanensis [D. punctatus wenchanensis], D. noulajinquiere and D. kikuohii matsumura [D. kikuchii matsumura]. The CPV of D. punctatus wenshanensis showed strong pathogenicity and stable toxicity and was safe to humans, animals and beneficial insects.
