Suppression of Planococcus citri (Risso) on sapota.
The impact of natural enemies on Planococcus citri on sapota (Manilkara zapota) was studied in Bangalore, India, during 1996. The mean number of pseudococcids per shoot was 82.50. A maximum of 36.41 individuals of the encyrtid Coccidoxenoides peregrinus was collected on 15 January. A significant relationship between P. citri and this parasitoid was observed. At a different location, P. citri was observed during the 1st week of March, with 94.37 individuals/shoot. The encyrtid Leptomastix dactylopii was active up to the 1st week of April. A significant relationship between the host and parasitoid populations was observed.
