Abstract

The defence of table grapes from pests.

Abstract

Notes are given on the biology, injuriousness and control of the most important pests of table grapes in Italy, including the tortricid Lobesia botrana, thrips (especially Frankliniella occidentalis), mites (especially Calepitrimerus vitis), the pseudococcids Planococcus ficus and P. citri, the diaspidid Targionia vitis, species of Otiorhynchus and birds. Criteria for reducing the number of pesticide treatments in vineyards are outlined, and a scheme for the biological control of pests and diseases on grape cv. Italia is presented.
