Abstract

A study on the profitability of landscape tree culture. (I).

Abstract

Costs and profitability were analysed for the production of ornamental trees in Korea Republic. Height and (plant crown) width were measured, and growth tables illustrating annual increases in these two parameters are given for: Forsythia koreana [F. viridissima], Rhododendron yedoense, R. yedoense var. poukhanense, R. lateritium, Hibiscus syriacus, Juniperus chinensis var. globosa, Buxus microphylla var. koreana, Rosa centifolia and R. hybrida. Average period for production of trees of preferred size is 3 years, and the internal rate of return was estimated to be 13.7%. Estimates are given for the amount of land needed in order to obtain an adequate annual income by the production of landscape trees.
