Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Faunistical studies on the genus Limnophora in China (Diptera: Muscidae).

Abstract

Diagnostic features of the genus Limnophora are described along with details of the ecology, distribution and taxonomy of species living in China. A key to the males of 49 Chinese species is given. It is known that the species assemblage of Limnophora in the Palaearctic Region of China is similar to that in the Oriental Region. Descriptions of 2 new species are given: L. biprominens sp. nov. and L. latifrons sp. nov., both collected from Guizhou in 1993. L. beckeri (also from Guizhou) is a new record for China, and L. guizhouensis syn. nov. is synonymised with L. pubiseta.
