Abstract

The relatively unknown bush butter tree (Dacryodes edulis).

Abstract

D. edulis, which has edible fruits, has long been domesticated in the Gulf of Guinea, particularly in Cameroon, Congo, Nigeria and Zaire. This paper reviews literature published between 1937 and 1994 on the origin, distribution, botany, vegetative and sexual propagation, diseases, uses including use as a medicinal plant, development and processing of this still relatively unknown tree.
