Abstract

Efficacy of carbofuran and Tenekil against nematodes associated with apple in Swat, Pakistan.

Abstract

Carbofuran and Tenekil (polychlorinated petroleum hydrocarbons) were tested against Pratylenchus neglectus, Helicotylenchus pseudorobustus, Tylenchorhynchus sp., Paratylenchus projectus, Psilenchus hilarulus and Xiphinema rivesi associated with apple in Swat, Pakistan. Nematode population densities were determined initially as well as at 40, 80 and 120 days after nematicide application. Both carbofuran and Tenekil caused significant but different reduction in population densities of all the six nematode species except for Paratylenchus projectus where carbofuran was more effective.
