Abstract

Regeneration of plantlets from excised roots of Albizia lebbeck Benth.

Abstract

Root explants from 15-day-old seedlings produced 15-17 shoots when cultured on B5 (Gamborg) medium supplemented with 4 mg benzyladenine and 2 mg 2,4-D/litre. Shoot buds originated endogenously within 15-20 days either directly or after slight callusing. The excised shoots were successfully rooted on half-strength MS medium containing 1 mg IBA and 1 mg IAA/litre. The plantlets thus developed were successfully transferred to soil.
