Abstract

Source of resistance in French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) to angular leaf-spot (Phaeoisariopsis griseola) in Sikkim.

Abstract

Some 81 French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) lines were screened at Tadong during the pre-rainy and winter seasons of 1988 and 1989, and 75 lines in 1990, for resistance to P. griseola under natural epiphytotic conditions. None of the lines was resistant or moderately resistant continuously for 3 years in both seasons. However, JK8, PDR5, Him12, Him11, JK12 and PDR14 were resistant to moderately resistant for 2 years in both seasons. Him12, JK8, JK3, PDR5, PDR20-1 and RCR12 were resistant in the pre-rainy season for all 3 years continuously. These lines were moderately resistant or susceptible in winter.
