Invasive Species Compendium

Detailed coverage of invasive species threatening livelihoods and the environment worldwide

Abstract

Migrating Lepidoptera in 1992 (fifty-third report).

Abstract

In 1992, a total of 24 species of migratory Lepidoptera and 2 migratory indigenous species was observed in the Netherlands. The data of 59 observers are presented. Loxostege sticticalis, Mythimna vitellina and larvae of Hyles euphorbiae were recorded again after a long period of absence. Especially Colias hyale and migrating Pieris brassicae were numerous. Udea lutealis seems to be indigenous in the Netherlands and therefore Dutch species are no longer regarded as migrants. Populations of Chrysodeixis chalcites in greenhouses in the province of Zuid-Holland and in northern Limburg are probably the source of the relatively large numbers of this species reported from these areas.
